Iron Hoof Disc Golf

Disc golf enthusiasts will be thrilled to know a new course is opening soon at the Georgia International Horse Park at the Bald Rock Meadows location. Dubbed Iron Horse Disc Golf Course, the 18-hole championship course will be free for public use later in April.

Disc golf is similar to the game of golf, but rather than balls and clubs, players use a flying disc or Frisbee. Players throw the golf disc from a tee to a target, or the hole, usually an elevated metal basket. Disc golf is enjoyed by players of all ages and gender identities, and boasts health benefits such as aerobic exercise, upper and lower body conditioning and mental stimulation. There are more than 9,800 disc golf courses worldwide, with more being installed every day.

"The Georgia International Horse Park has an established reputation for passive recreation with the abundance of walking, horseback riding and mountain biking trails throughout the park," said City Manager Kameron Kelley. "Iron Hoof Disc Golf compliments that recreational mission and now gives locals and visitors another avenue for enjoying the outdoors in Conyers."

For more information about the Iron Hoof Disc Golf, stay tuned to the City's and GIHP's social media channels in the coming weeks.
